Low Environmental Impact Program

Want a lush, green lawn, but fewer fertilizer applications?

Concerned about the environmental impact of fertilizer runoff and leaching?

Interested in targeted, reduced-risk grub and insect control?

Ask about our Low Environmental Impact Program!

Diamond Lawn Service’s Low Environmental Impact Program combines the best of new and traditional lawn care technologies. While many of our competitors apply quick release fertilizer and sell six, seven, even eight applications per year, our program uses Polyon® controlled release fertilizer and a slow release fertilizer, which require only three applications per year total. You’ll save money and the environment.

Our Low Environmental Impact Program is designed to deliver:

  • Healthy turf that’s easier to maintain
  • Fewer applications than the competition
  • Targeted grub control
  • Less impact on the environment
  • The same technology used on golf courses, sports turf and commercial turf

Advanced Lawn Care Technology
Fertilizer technology has changed dramatically over the past 20 years, moving from a quick release philosophy to one embracing controlled release. Polyon® controlled release fertilizer provides consistent, predictable feeding throughout the growing season. It

  • Eliminates surge growth, making your lawn easier to maintain
  • Vastly reduces nitrogen leaching or volatility,
  • Limits fertilizer runoff, and
  • Is available without phosphorous, making it an ideal choice for those living near lakes or rivers and those concerned for their local watershed.

Targeted Grub and Insect Control
Our program can also provide the latest in white grub control technology. Acelepryn® insecticide delivers superior results at the lowest application rate ever utilized for white grub control. It’s kinder to the environment because:

  • A single application controls grubs and a wide variety of other turf pests, eliminating the need for multiple products and applications.
  • Based on acute toxicity testing, Acelepryn® is the first and only grub control that does not include a signal word (such as caution, danger, or warning) on its label.
  • It has a low impact on non-target organisms such as birds, bees, and fish.
  • It only targets insects that damage the turf, not other beneficial insects.
  • Acelepryn® has received a reduced risk classification from the EPA, making it a smart solution at a time when we are looking for more environmentally sound products.

How the Program Works

Our “Low Environmental Impact Program” consists of four scheduled visits, or five if you choose to have the grub control included.

  • Spring—We start in spring with the first application of a slow-release fertilizer plus crabgrass pre-emergent. This provides a nice green-up and helps control crabgrass later in the year.
  • Spring through Summer—If you choose to include the Acelepryn® grub control, it can be applied through August to control white grubs. We encourage applying this product in April, as it will also control other lawn damaging pests.
  • May through early June—The second fertilizer application uses Polyon®. Designed to last around 150 days, applying Polyon® controlled release fertilizer at this time satisfies your lawn’s fertilization needs until September. We also apply a broadleaf weed control.
  • Late Summer—We schedule a service call to check on the lawn and take care of any summer weeds such as spurge, crabgrass, or nutsedge.
  • September—We apply the final application of a 100% slow-release fertilizer along with broadleaf weed control to gradually provide your lawn with the nutrients it will require for the fall growing season.

Our program is designed to provide you with maximum benefit from your lawn during summer, the time you use it the most. Minimal application means less time staying off of your lawn and more time enjoying it.

Program Cost

One of the biggest challenges in the lawn care industry is trying to get people to approach their lawn care needs in terms of annual cost rather than price per application. New technology does cost more, but when you consider the overall cost of our competition’s six to eight applications versus our three applications, this program may actually save you money.

We are not trying to sell this program on price. We are trying to deliver high quality service and high quality turf with lower environmental impact. We offer a 6.25% discount if you choose to prepay for the entire program. Or, you can pay per application, with 25% of the program cost due at the first application, 50% due at the second, and 25% due at the third.

As with all our lawn care programs, service calls are free, and we blow sidewalks and drives free of excess fertilizer.

The Future of Lawn Care Technology—Today

We believe this program sets Diamond Lawn Service apart from our competition. We believe it is the future of lawn care: providing effective products with lower environmental impact. We are meeting the challenge of greener lawns in a greener world; using “green” technology to overcome many of the environmental concerns that have long been ignored by the turf industry.

We hope that you, too, see the value in such a program. If you do, please call us at 248-588-1888 or request a free lawn evaluation.
